Life is better than death, I believe, if only because it is less boring, and because it has fresh peaches in it. - Alice Walker

Quote of the Day/Week/Millenium:

I would rather have a nod from an American, than a snuff-box from an emperor. ~Lord Byron

If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.

April 30, 2005

I've been thinking about starting a blog for a while, and my roommate just sent me over the edge by sending me the link to hers.  So, here I am.

The sad fact is that I am probably going to wind up marrying my best friend about thirty years from now.  Why?  Well, why not?  Old habits die hard.  My mother and I were talking about a friend's latest boyfriend, the other day, and all of a sudden, in the middle of the whole "he's a filthy bastard" conversation, mom shakes her head and says, "It's just sad that your rejects are better than the guys she dates."  She's right.  The guys that I've dumped, or rejected, or scarred for life are universally better than the guys some girls date.  Let's thank the civil engineer for still being willing to give me good advice and an honest opinion; let's thank the blue collar boy for always being in a good mood (and for filling his vending machines with my favorite bottled coffee drink); CPA boy--thank you for being steady and reliable; chemical engineer... thank you for always looking out for me whether I deserved it or not.  And for everyone else out there, may all your relationships be at least as good as my rejects.
